My name is Overton Smith and I have lived in this beautiful area just north of Toronto all my life, raised on a farm and loving God’s great outdoors. I guess I consider myself an outdoor enthusiast loving both wildlife and nature equally. Married 34 years and counting and have three great kids and four beautiful grandchildren who love to come to Papas and Nanas house for some good outdoor fun.

With the year of 2020 come and gone and Covid-19 unfortunately still here it made me consider more and more the love I have for the outdoors that are always filled with the fresh smells of each season. As I pondered the idea of what I could do outside and offer to my local community I began thinking more about the firewood business. Like you, I’m not getting any younger so how could I do this type of work and still be able to walk the next day. That’s when I looked long and hard at this small side business that would include as much automation to it that I could possibly find allowing me to work at this for the next 10-15 years.

 

With that all in mind my little firewood business took flight. I found it to be a nice change and a stress reliever from my normal everyday job. I still enjoy my Monday to Friday job but it’s always nice to have something just a little different to look forward to and that’s how this all came together. Ya it can be a little tough sometimes but like the saying goes “if you enjoy your job, it’s not really work”, so here I am cutting, splitting and delivering quality local firewood to my neighbors and friends. Who doesn’t love the sound and smell of an open fire whether outside around the campfire with friends or in that little family room you have just off the kitchen with someone special. So I find myself asking God each day to give me good health and a safe day, what more could I ask for.
